The new Nikon D3S digital SLR (dSLR) camera is the new and improved version of the popular D3 professional camera.

The D3S builds on the strong feature set of the D3 and is now at the top of Nikon’s FX sensor range (along with the D3X). The FX sensor format is Nikon’s equivalent of 35mm film, which makes these cameras suitable for high-end amateur and professional photographers. The CMOS sensor has been redesigned for this camera and Nikon has also included an image sensor cleaning mechanism.

The Nikon D3S’s maximum sensitivity has been bumped up to 102,400 and native ISO to 200-12,800. Another new feature is HD video recording at 24 frames-per-second (fps), however this is only in 720p format, so not strictly Full HD. Dual-card slots also make an appearance.

The camera does retain some specs from its predecessor, including 12.1-megapixel resolution and a continous shooting speed of 9fps.

The Nikon D3S is available through Nikon’s professional retail channel with a recommended retail price of around the $7000 mark.

(Oh quit it, I’m only kidding!).

New LeSportsSac bag

I love LeSportsac because I have fond memories of the 80’s.

I had this great black, messenger-ish bag from LeSportsac that I carried with me everyday for about a year, around 2002. It had lots of pockets for all my junk and had an adjustable strap to I could wear it as a shoulder bag or a messenger.

So what if the only other people I saw with this bag were old ladies in Chinatown? I loved it, and since then I have always been on the look out for the Next Great LeSportsac bag.

I think I may have found it in the LeSportsac City Satchel in Bonnie Black or Totem print. The size looks good, and I love the side pockets. Perfect for my T pass and chapstick. I think the flowers in the Bonnie Black print would cheer me up even in the dead of winter.

The Louis Vuitton Nightbird Pochette recreates many of the same themes for LV’s Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection including the geometric-ethnic print. I love the print and the colours. It definitely has a really youthful feel to it which in moderation can look nice on a woman (even at my age!)

I definitely like the tassel, I know some are saying the tassels are too big and out there, but I have to say they are growing on me! Even the giant fox tail! The wristlet definitely makes it stand out

Still there is something bothering me about this bag. Maybe the way is scrunches up into a clutch? It just seems a bit silly. Ahh… maybe that will grow on me too.

When Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for best actress on Sunday I was so thrilled (and not only because I predicted it in my pre-Oscars article last week). What a wonderful woman, what a wonderful film the Blind Side was, and how touching that acceptance speech was! Not that I’m easily touched by the tears of a Hollywood actress in a ball gown, but seriously—this is a humble, deserving, talented and extremely down to earth woman, and when she thanked, “the moms that take care of the babies and the children no matter where they come from.” adding, “Those moms and parents never get thanked.” I just had to hand it to her…she was speaking to me in a way that your typical Oscar night diva never does. I admit I cried like a child when she thanked her own late mother, and I thought about my own two kids.

Sandra’s Comfy Chic Style

As much as I could go on about how much I love Sandra Bullock, how the film touched me, how I knew she was going to win this award, how much this year’s Oscars was a triumph for women, how lovely she looked in her Marchesa gown, (Word is her 13 year old step daughter helped her pick it out…as if I needed any more endearing news to get behind her) it wouldn’t be Replicapot if I didn’t steer my chatty self to the order of the day…looking good out in the real world!

What to wear?
